The Bible says if we forgive others, God will also forgive us, but the Bible also says our sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ. Which one is correct?

.
The majority of faith quotes in the bible promise salvation through faith in Jesus.
The Apostle Paul believed that faith in Jesus meant living by the 40 commandments which Jesus issued at the sermon on the mount.
.
.
There are a couple of direct “sin and faith” quotes in the bible.
.
.
Mark 10:52
‘And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.’
- Jesus healed him by forgiving his sins because of his faith
.
.
Galatians 2:16
‘Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faithof Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.’
- Works of the law (in this context) were Jewish Temple Ritual. Even though Luther and Calvin taught their followers that ‘works of the law’ meant charitable actions, which is bonkers theology.
.
.
In the Mark quote above, the fact that Jesus forgave one man’s sins because of his faith does not mean that he will forgive everyone’s sins because of their faith.
Ivan Marecic quotes Luke 18:13 in his answer. The larger story around that quote is that Jesus said the Pharisees (who lived by faith in God) would not be allowed into Heaven. So in Jesus’ eyes, faith requires a love-centered life
.
.
The Galatians quote refers to Paul’s argument with Peter
Paul told Peter that Christians had rejected Judaism so separating Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians was wrong.
Elsewhere, Paul made it clear that justification was the wiping out of all sin prior to the crucifixion and that this was achieved by the faith OF Jesus.
Sins after the crucifixion were still subject to judgement.
If it was not so, the Last Judgement of Revelation could not happen
.
.
In the Galatians quote, Paul says that only Christians could benefit from the wiping out of sin prior to the crucifixion because if you didn’t believe in it you couldn’t benefit from it.
So faith and belief in Jesus wipes the sins of humanity between Eden and The Crucifixion which makes it possible for humans to get into Heaven without the (fulfilled /cancelled) requirements of the Old Covenant.
.
.
Whether humans do get into Heaven or not depends on Jesus forgiving their sins of this life, and that revolves upon Grace.
This is too complex an issue for most Christian preachers who are thick. And that is why they teach that simply believing, gets you into Heaven.
The fact that they can’t understand this issue makes it obvious that God is not interpreting through their mouths.
.
.
“The Bible says if we forgive others, God will also forgive us”
That is a direct quote from Jesus’ mouth
.
“but the Bible also says our sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ”
That is a human interpretation by a human preacher
.
“Which one is correct?”
If the life or death of your soul depended on your decision, which one would you choose?
